The Las Vegas Frontier Hotel and Casino Imploded

A few months ago, when the ELAD group purchased the New Frontier land for $1.2 billion dollars they set a new price per acre record. This morning at 2:30AM they set their demolition and future construction plan in action. The demolition of the New Frontier makes room for their $5+ Billion dollar larger than life replica of the original 1907 Plaza Hotel in New York.

After spectators where presented with a fantastic fireworks show, shortly after 2:30AM the New Frontier was imploded and came to it’s final resting place as a pile of rubble. In only five and a half seconds the tower toppled over first towards the North and then shot out a final plume of smoke.

The emerging dust cloud was quite large, quickly enveloping the Wynn. As the spectators cheers began to die down the only sounds to be heard were car alarms caused by the explosive concussion.

Thankfully the wind kept the smoke from stagnating in the area too long and the cloud quickly dissipated.

These types of events are becoming more commonplace. Developers are purchasing older casino properties, imploding them and resurrecting massive high rise condos in their place. As high rise demand continues and land prices rise, older casinos will keep on falling.
